Draußen geht gerade die Welt unter, es regnet wie aus Kübeln und stürmt obendrein. Ich habe die halbe Nacht bei meiner kränkelnden Katze gesessen und Pfötchen gehalten. Aber jetzt schläft sie, wird alles wieder gut. Auch ich werde heute nicht mehr viel machen außer Schlafen. Bei dem Wetter helfen eh selbst meine Gamaschen nicht mehr, da müssen es schon Gummistiefel sein!
It is pouring outside, the water from the sink won’t even drain anymore...and I have been up half of the night to hold my sick kitties paw. But she’ll be allright, she is sound asleep and snoring now. As will I be as there is nothing urgent to do; with this weather you don’t need gaiters but wellingtons!

...kommen die ersten neuen Gamaschen in den Shop. Ich gehe hier geistig auf dem Zahnfleisch, da trotz aller Bemühungen die Photos schlecht sind; das Wetter war einfach unmöglich in den letzten Tagen und ich bin nunmal keine Photografin...aber dafür habe ich immerhin eine neue Seite erstellt, die beim Auswählen und Messen helfen soll, damit die Gamasche dann auch sitzt. Auch mit schlechten neuen Photos, aber immerhin...

Tonight I will finally list the first new gaiters. I am desolate because I haven’t been able to make good photos; the weather (and thus the light) has been crazy lately and I am not a trained photographer...But at least I have made a new page on my site to help you with choosing and measuring, for a perfect fit. With bad photos as well, bear with me...

Gestern abend war plötzlich das Netz weg. Kein www. für uns, war ganz schön komisch...

Heute trage ich die endgültige Version der neuen Gamasche nochmal Probe (beim Shoppen im dm, yay...) und dann geht sie online, wir müssen nur noch Photos machen. Ich freu mich total drauf, sind echt schön geworden. Draußen scheint schon die Sonne, heute nachmittag kommt Angela von mathe-für-mädchen auf ein Käffchen und wir quatschen Nähkram. Wochenende, ich komme!

Today I am going to test drive the final version of my new gaiters once more (shopping the drugstore, yay...) and as soon as I have some photos, they’ll go online. Really looking forward to it, they look really cool. Outside it is going to be a sunny da, Angela from mathe-für-mädchen is dropping by for a coffee and to talk sewing. Weekend, here I come!

Sind sie nich’ hübsch?! Sobald der Nähmaschinendoktor den kleinen Linksdrall meiner Husquarna kuriert hat, gibt es mehr davon. Diese kommen in den nächsten Tagen in den Shop.

Aren’t they cute!? As soon as I get my Husquarnas hiccup fixed, there’ll be more. You’ll find these in my shop one of these days.

Die ersten neuen Gamaschen sind fertig! Ich feile noch an der idealen Weite, aber ansonsten bin ich sehr glücklich damit: zum Drehen UND Wenden, zum Krempeln oder Schnallen. Bisher habe ich etwa 6 Tragevarianten ausprobiert, pro Farbe...vielen Dank an Carina fürs Zuhören und die geschätzte Meinung! Hier ein paar erste Bilder:

Still trying to get the ideal amount of width but otherwise very happy with them: they are reversible, of course, but you can also wear them upside down, with the strap or just folded to your taste. I didn’t think I could fit all that in one pair; so far I have counted six different ways to wear them...per colour! First pics:

Ich wollt’s ja schon so lang, aber heute geht es wirklich los, mit einem Seitenblick auf meine Husquarna und ersten Bildern von neuen Ideen.

I’ve been wanting to share with you for quite some time now, but today I’m finally doing it, starting with a glimpse on the staggering technical device I work with, my Husquarna, and a first peek on new ideas.


Meine Nähmaschine ist total analog: sie ist so alt, dass sie noch mechanische Nahtbilder hat. Das sind die runden Dinger mit Rillen, die dann in die Maschine gesteckt werden und die Mechanik steuern. Eigentlich genau so, wie die Noppen bei einer Spieluhr die Musik machen...

My sewing machine is completely non-digital: in fact, it is that old that it uses these round thingies that you put in the back of the machine to create different types of stitches. Basically the same as a musical clock...









...nur das hier hübsche Ziernähte entstehen, die auch schon einige meiner Gamaschen veredeln.

...only that it makes nice stitches instead, that I have already used on some of my spats.






Ich finde sie so schön, vor allem auf dem Cordsamt...ein bischen wie Spitze. Daraus sollen Armbänder und Manschetten werden- und mir fällt sicher noch mehr ein.

I really like the stitches, especially on the velvety corduroy, they are a bit like lace. I’m gonna make wristlets and cuffs from it- and maybe something else.
